Plantation Pet Health Center

Hospital
POLICIES

Please review our Veterinary Hospital Policies

We appreciate your selecting Plantation Pet Health Center (PPHC) for your pet care needs. We want your experience with PPHC to be positive during your visit to our animal hospital.

We also strive to provide the best in veterinary care, but also want to reassure you that we care greatly about your financial interests. In order to provide clarification on the billing processes of PPHC, we present below a summary of our financial/billing policies. We strongly encourage you to speak with our practice manager about any billing questions that you might have, whether they relate to a visit, a surgery, a notification, or insurance inquiries.

Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A “drop off” means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for as long as is needed, which may be 30 minutes to a few hours depending upon your pet’s condition. Usually, we will ask you to drop off sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine your pet in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Often you will be asked to fill out a form indicating some basic history elements for the doctor. Once the doctor is done, he or she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis, discuss treatment options and to give you discharge instructions.

We reserve time in our schedule specifically for your pet (while turning others away or placing them on waiting lists) and in consideration of others, we request appointments and bath reservations to be cancelled by 9am on the previous weekday (M-F) and surgery appointments to be cancelled by 9am TWO weekdays (M-F) prior to the schedule appointment. We understand that there may be circumstances outside of your control that may keep you from your appointment. Let us know if you have extenuation circumstances and we will do our best to accommodate you. Appointments 10 or more minutes late may be asked to schedule a no show fee will apply.

Pet Vaccination Policy

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date and that they be free of internal and external parasites.

Pet Restraining Policy

For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash. Because not all people or animals have the same love of/ respect for/ appreciation of the unique attributes of exotics that we or their owners do, they should be similarly restrained in a carrier or with a leash

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, CareCredit, personal checks and cash.

Pet Boarding Policies

All boarded pets must be current on vaccinations (see below), and have had a negative intestinal parasite screen within the last year.

Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Leptospirosis, Bordetella
Cats: Rabies, FVRCP

Record Keeping Fee

We have a record keeping fee of $5 per file review for prescriptions filled by third-party pharmacies (Chewy, 1800PetMeds, Kroger Pharmacy etc.).This change is necessary to help us manage the quality of medications dispensed to your pets and to offset the administrative costs associated with managing third-party prescription refills.

What does this mean for you?

  • For each medication filled by a third party, a standard fee of $5 will be applied.
  • If you are requesting medications at the time of your pet's appointment, one $5 fee will be applied for all medications instead of per medication.
  • The fee will be due at the time of processing the prescription. We will call when payment is due or you can keep a card on file for convenience.
  • Prescriptions filled in clinic or through our online Covetrus Pharmacy will not incur the $5 record keeping fee.
  • If your pet’s prescription is ONLY available through a third party pharmacy, this fee will be waived.
  • If all of your pet’s prescriptions are already being filled in clinic and/or through our online pharmacy, this notice does not affect you.
We have established trust with Covetrus and this is where our in-clinic medications come from. It is our preference that medications are filled with Covetrus to ensure brand transparency and make sure your pets are getting products that are correctly tested and manufactured. Covetrus offers competitive pricing as well as free shipping for orders over $49. To see what is available on our online pharmacy visit Covetrus Pharmacy. That being said, where you would like your pet’s medications to come from remains up to you.
